Banned trawlerman hated fishing anyway
Forced to stay in port by EC fishing quotas, a spokesmen for the fishermen’s union of Grimsby, Lincolnshire has upset his fellow trawlermen by announcing that it was ‘a crap job anyway’.
John Hargreaves, whose family have fished the North Sea for four generations said ‘This is much better. In ports you have pubs and cafes and stuff and you aren’t freezing cold and smelling of fish. Why don’t we just all give up on being fishermen altogether and get a job in an office somewhere?’
His deputy appeared before TV cameras denouncing Hargreaves comments as ‘Unhelpful, damaging and disloyal’. He then seemed distracted for a moment before adding ‘Actually, he’s right, it is a crap job isn’t it? I’d love a job with one of those big office chairs with levers that make it go up and down.’
