Mid-life crisis fears as Blair gets earring and sports car

Tony Blair has prompted rumours that he may be experiencing a mid-life crisis after he was seen pulling up outside Downing Street in a convertible red Ferrari. The Prime Minister was apparently accompanied by 19-year-old lap-dancer Danielle Veale.

The outgoing Premier and his ‘personal trainer and style consultant’ have apparently been spotted in a number of West End night clubs dancing until the early hours or speeding to various rock concerts where the PM offered ‘to riff with the guys.’ Tony Blair has also recently taken to wearing sunglasses, cowboy boots and a baseball cap (backwards) as well as loosening his belt so that the top of his underpants were clearly visible.

The Prime Minister had previously been reported to be depressed at the imminent prospect of demotion, but since meeting Ms Veale and sharing her interests in clubbing, astrology and ‘adult entertainment’ his youthful vigour seems to have returned. Psychiatrists say the change in conduct is unsurprising; ‘This is classic mid-life crisis behaviour’, said Janet St. John from Goldsmiths College. ‘Blair has suddenly realized that he has completely wasted the last decade. It’s just been work, work, work -he has seen his youth disappear before his eyes. He was always a wild child; the rebel long haired guitar player, but that side of him had to be constrained. Now its finally all coming out, to the extreme distress and embarrassment of everyone who knows him.’

The apparent change of image comes amid accusations that the retiring PM was behaving like ‘a rock star on a farewell tour’ something that his entourage were quick to deny; before asking if any of the female journalists wanted to come backstage and ‘share a few lines with the Main Man’.
