National Doctors Awards postponed due to ‘lost files’

The first ever National Doctors Awards ceremony at London’s Dorchester Hotel were delayed for another three weeks last night after it was discovered that the case notes on the nominated doctors could not be found.
This was the third time that the nominated doctors have been summoned to London to attend the awards ceremony and many complained about a three hour wait in the lobby of the hotel before they were finally informed that the event had been rescheduled yet again. Other delays had been due to ‘award shortages’ and more urgent ceremonies having to be brought forward.
‘I got myself all psyched up for it, I had a little speech in my head just in case and everything’, said Dr Perrot from Newcastle, nominated in the Outstanding GP category, ‘and then I get sent home again with a letter about further investigations being needed before the award can be decided blah blah blah’.
The doctors also complained that the receptionist at the hotel had not wanted to let them through into the hall at all, asking them if they really were genuine doctors, and claiming that Jonathan Ross wouldn’t be able to see them. This was despite them all having printed invitations with the TV star clearly named as their host for the evening.
The National Doctor Awards which have been organized by patient groups across the country, are intended to celebrate good service, prompt attention and empathy with the patient. ‘We are really sorry that this has happened yet again’ said organiser Mike Davies. ‘It was completely unforeseen. We have told them to come back in three weeks and this time we will holding the ceremony in Douglas on the Isle of Man. But every nominee will get to be on television, the winners get extended personal tributes to them broadcast to the whole nation and then a beautiful award to display in their surgery and show off in the local paper so it’s essential that they turn up. I mean it almost definitely won’t be postponed again’ he added with a smile.
