Man keeps in contact with friends without using Social Networking site

A Leicestershire man revealed today that he has been keeping touch with his friends without using Myspace, Friends Reunited and Bebo. Speaking from his home, Ben Stevens, an account manager from Wigston, insisted it was to communicate with people without a computer. ‘I just carried on contacting people in the same way I have for years. More often than not, I pick up the phone or visit someone, have a cup of tea and a chat or whatever. We might even play Scrabble while we were in the same room. Occasionally I even put pen to paper and write a letter.’

Bradley Keston, an interactions software developer at Facebook said ‘When we heard about Mr Stevens, it got us working on a whole new communications concept and so I am thrilled to be announcing the new Facebook widget ‘Facepost.’ The user uses the ‘Face-biro’ to write a ‘Face-letter’ to their friend, puts it in an ‘Face-envelope’, ‘Face-stamps’ it, ‘Face-addresse’s it and then popsit in the post box. ‘The user logs on to Facebook and sends a message to their friend to tell them that a message is on its way.’

Mr Stevens doubted he would use the Facepost widget, but did admit to missing a few things, ‘I quite like those smiley faces you can use, but then I can always draw them myself. Oh and though it’s nice to have 300 friends, but I sort of prefer my friends to be people I actually like, not just someone who once went to the same school as me.’
