Child calls parent’s ‘1, 2, 3′ bluff

'Mum had nothing after three'

'Mum had nothing after three'

A six-year-old from Richmond won a landmark battle today which commentators fear could see children become ‘untouchable’.  During a routine tantrum in Waitrose, Josh Newton withstood numerous warnings and threats, finally forcing his mother to count slowly to three in a desperate last throw of the dice.

‘I just wanted to see what happened after three,’ said Josh.  ‘Everything went quiet, like when CBeebies finishes.  Then other children started standing up out of their pushchairs and clapping, slowly at first but then faster and louder.’  Josh finally stopped smashing the trolley into the tills when he saw his mum sobbing in the organic aisle.  He is now enjoying unadulterated access to confectionary and a trade account at Toys R Us.
