NHS bans walking sticks following health scare
The NHS today withdrew all walking aids after a study found that 59% of people aged over 65 died within 10 years of starting to use them. Doctors have recalled all walking sticks currently in use in the hope of prolonging the lives of thousands of elderly, barely-mobile patients, but admit that for some the damage may already have been done. They also predict that recovering the items could take a while as many patients live within walking distance of their local hospital.
Help the Aged has been quick to attack the Government for what it has labelled a ‘knee-jerk’ response, but a planned protest march has had to be cancelled due to a lack of support.Click to send this story to a friend
