Debrett’s releases guide to revolving door etiquette – could save UK employers millions

After eighty-seven-years of exhaustive research, Debrett’s – the arbiter of good manners in the UK – has finally issued official guidelines for ‘Gentlemanly Conduct in the Operation and Use of Revolving Doors’.

Last year a Confederation of British Industry study found that UK employers were losing up to 8000 man-hours a week, as chivalrous male employees needlessly waited for female colleagues to exit revolving doors. The CBI’s concluded that this lost productivity had cost British firms an estimated £18.6 million in 2008 alone.

Government and industry leaders are already hailing its publication as, ‘the most significant business protocol to be issued so far this millennium’.
