14 year old boy ‘just fine to stay in the pool for now thanks’
Schoolboy Gary Bough declined to leave King Edward’s pool following his swimming class on Friday, insisting he ‘might just hang around for a minute or so’. The incident followed a brief speech to the class by 19-year-old lifeguard Katie Williams on safety in the pool which concluded with a warning, ‘you don’t want me having to straddle your chest and pump out your lungs!’.
While the rest of his class quickly returned to the changing rooms ahead of catching the school coach, Bough deflected the calls from his PE teacher to ‘get moving’ by continually circling the water in front of him, and asking for a float he could hold on to, as he was suffering with ‘a massive, um, cramp’.Click to send this story to a friend
