Eastenders may include recession storyline by as early as 2010
BBC drama Eastenders is to include a shocking storyline alluding to the recession.
‘We pride ourselves on being up-to-the minute in portrayal of modern Britain’ said one of the show’s producers. ‘Our depiction of the treatment experienced by French Huguenots last year pulled no punches. We’re not afraid to tackle the issues of the day head on.’
The show has even featured Jewish, black and Asian characters on occasions, recognising that a number of communities of such groups now exist in the UK.
Now it has been revealed that the show will feature a character who is out of work for a morning and another who hasn’t enough money to go to the pub at lunchtime and in the evening. ‘We realise this is contraversial stuff, but this is the real world’ the BBC argued.
