Teenager writes then posts letter

A Shropshire teenager today has described the adrenelin rush of a new social networking craze that saw her write and then post a ‘letter’.

Mel Cunningham is one of hundreds of teenagers at the cutting-edge of youth culture who have turned their backs on the continuous and instant updates offered by websites such as Facebook and Twitter and chosen instead to rely on paper and pen to communicate with friends and family.

‘I used to type whatever thoughts came into my head and put them on the net for anyone to read,’ said Mel. ‘But now I wait until I’ve got something important to say and then take great care with the grammar and spelling.’ But most of all it’s the waiting that is so exciting. My best friend sent a first class letter last week and I’m expecting it any day now.’
