Couple arriving ‘fashionably late’ for Heathrow flight, refused boarding
After reassuring his wife that there was ‘no rush’ and ‘it’d be fine’, Darren Wilson and wife Mandy were yesterday prevented from boarding a London-to-Sydney flight despite getting to check-in with more than five minutes to spare until take-off. Mrs Wilson had hoped to be by her father’s bedside during his final hours, but her husband’s refusal to get flustered under pressure ensured that none of the airport staff thought they appeared too keen.
Sadly this is only the latest example of a petty insistence on punctuality blighting the Wilsons’ lives. Darren, a paramedic, is being sued by the mother of an accident victim after stopping at McDonald’s en route to answering her 999 call, before dispensing such specialist advice as ‘he should probably get that looked at’ and ‘you don’t want to resuscitate too soon’.
