Paul McCartney ‘confident he’ll outlive Ringo’

Sir Paul McCartney has spoken out for the first time about his fear of dying before Ringo. ‘It seems only right and proper that I should be the last to go,’ he said, ‘and I imagine most listeners would want that too,’ he said in an interview on Radio 3.

Prompted to conduct a straw poll, the interviewer took several calls from elderly women ‘absolutely on Sir Paul’s side.’ Marjorie Pell from Dunstable said it would be ‘a travesty’ if Ringo won and another said it was ‘the very least Sir Paul could expect.’ Sir Paul expressed his gratitude for their support, adding that if it did come to a showdown, he hoped he could rely on the Royal Family to sort something out.’
