Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has complained to the FA that during Saturday’s game against Manchester United his players were ‘constantly harrassed’ by the opposing team.
‘At Arsenal we try to play the beautiful game’ said Wenger, ‘but how can you do that when people in bright red shirts keep running towards you and sometimes even kick the ball away from your feet?’
Wenger added that United’s unsporting tactics had ‘totally ruined’ the natural flow of the game. There has been a growth in the phenomenon of ‘tackling’ in recent years, causing increasing concern in the game. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has suggested that cameras should be used to detect whenever one footballer comes within two feet of another, triggering a loud whistle and an electric shock to the offending player.
