Launderette character returns to Eastenders
A washing machine from the Albert Square launderette, which featured in the first episode of Eastenders, is due to make a comeback this week.
The machine, a Hotpoint ZX654, was a popular fixture in the soap opera’s 1980s heyday but it was forced to retire following newspaper stories alleging excessive use of white powder in its pre-wash dispenser.
Actress Daniella Westbrook, who plays the machine, said ‘I’m really happy to be coming back, it feels just like coming home,’
