Twitter admits £10m Cornish-language site ‘may have been a mistake’

WTF?

WTF?

Social networking site Twitter has today admitted that it ‘may have been hasty’ in launching a sister site for the Cornish-speaking community.  The decision followed the massive success of the Welsh version of the site, ‘Twttwr’, where tweets in text-speak were said to have lost nothing for the omission of vowels.

‘Unfortunately we’ve only seen 12 tweets so far on the new site,’ said Twitter CEO Evan Williams, ‘and all of those were Cornish for ‘Hi Gavin, not sure if I’m using this new phone correctly! Love Mum’.’  Williams blamed the decision to go ahead with the site on the failure of staff to mention that Cornish was a dead language within the first 140 characters of their memo.
