The BBC refused to be drawn today after a leaked memo exposed its secret plan to broadcast a Morecambe and Wise repeat this Christmas. ‘It would be unfair to raise the public’s hopes by making rash promises about our ambitious Christmas plans,’ a BBC spokeswoman said. ‘But needless to say there’ll be a few surprises.’
The news was immediately welcomed by lifelong Morecambe and Wise fan, Bill Smith. ‘Christmas for me means two things – first, a Morecambe and Wise repeat and, second, the birth of the baby Jesus. This is like getting all your presents early – the same ones as last year.’
The controversial memo is also said to raise the possibility of an Only Fools and Horses repeat at an undisclosed time during the festive period.
