UN mix-up sees Chuckle Brothers appointed Middle East peace envoys
Embarrassed UN officials today confirmed that Barry and Paul Chuckle, the much-loved children’s entertainers, have assumed joint responsibility for the role of the UN’s Peace Envoy to the Middle East following ‘some confusion at the office of our PR firm’.
A statement issued by the UN’s headquarters in New York confirmed that the Chuckles had already accepted the ambassadors post, and the international community had decided that, ‘on reflection, their unique ‘to me, to you’ philosophy, may just be the approach that’s required to resolve the issues in the Gaza Strip’.
In a separate story, former PM Tony Blair has been announced as the star turn at the Blackpool Ambassadors Theatre panto Mother Goose, which is playing six nights a week with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday, and also features Ban-Ki Moon as Widow Twanky.
