Bristol Man granted 6ft Chugging free exclusion zone
Legal history was made today when Stewart Cropland (39) was granted a 6ft foot Chugging free exclusion zone around him. Any Chugger, Pedlar or Hawker who breaches the exclusion zones faces two weeks imprisonment and the charity faces a GBP1,000 fine.
‘I was plain fed up with the constant appeals for money from these people, enough is enough so I fought back, now I can walk the streets of Bristol without the fear of being embarrassed into given some worthy cause cash by some attractive girly.’
The new measures also mean that ‘Chuggers’ must now apply to Bristol council to have a chip fitted to them that warns then that Mr Cropland is approaching. Bristol Council denied that the GBP1,000 ‘Chugger chipping’ fee was a cynical attempt to increase revenues from Charities.
