Drivers celebrate start of bike-hunting season
Drivers throughout Britain were today out in force to celebrate the ‘Glorious 1st’, when cyclists can be legally hunted after their summer breeding season.
This year’s hunting is reported to be particularly good. By lunchtime on the Strand, street traders were offering stuffed and mounted heads of cyclists, complete with cracked safety helmets.
One transit van was spotted in Chiswick at 11am with 8 bikes painted on its side.
Not everyone is celebrating, however. The Cycle Touring Club’s spokesman said that the hunting season was ‘an outrage’ and that ‘there was no such thing as sustainable hunting of cyclists’. His protests were brought to a swift end as he was deliberately squashed between two bendy buses driving too close together on Tottenham Court Road.
