Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy formed the group in 1998, but all left the original line-up over the years. However, the trio have now issued a statement saying that whatever disagreements they’ve had in the past they are nothing ‘compared to sticking it to the new lot.’
For legal reasons the original Sugababes line up is planning to use the name The Bootleg Sugababes Again.
The current Sugababes line up was unavailable for comment as they aren’t speaking to each other at the moment. This has fuelled rumours that the members of the second tier and third tier of Sugababes – Heidi Range and Jade Ewen – may break away and form another yet another splinter group called The Real Sugababes.
Matt Cross, editor of HEAT magazine, commented:
‘Negotiating any kind of peace settlement between these different factions of Sugababes is going to be further complicated by another breakaway cell. It’s also getting difficult to tell where the real root of the problem lies as anyone who becomes a Sugababe is contractually bound to be quite arsey. Nobody could have predicated Siobhan, Keisha and Mutya getting back together again though, and this news is very exciting for fans of general haughtiness.’
