Ant & Dec to receive first joint knighthood in budget New Years honours list
In a cost cutting measure by Buckingham Palace, entertainers Ant & Dec have been awarded the first joint honour for services to broadcasting. They were thought to be the ideal candidates for the new type of award as neither is a proper celebrity in his own right and thus the pair can effectively treated as a single person.
After their joint investiture they will become known as Half-Sir Ant McPartlin and Half-Sir Dec Donnelly. The new look honours will take account of other notables of semi-celebrity status – Dannii Minogue is thought to be in line for a quarter of her sister Kylie’s OBE in the Queens birthdays honours list; given the talent-ratio between the sisters.
