Haiti aid worker miraculously saved by reporter
Another aid worker has been pulled from the media scrum in Haiti to give a press conference about his charity’s rescue efforts there. The news came just hours after publicity for charities working in Haiti had apparently ended.
‘You nearly lost me – I was already on the way to the airport when you guys located me and asked me to do another interview,’ said ShelterBox’s Jess Ward. ‘But I’m happy to do it one more time if it’ll help us.’
Ward added that Haiti was the toughest assignment he had ever experienced, beginning at home with posing for the TV cameras, loading up the boxes and explaining why they were going. ‘Then here in Haiti we had to compete with Oxfam for media attention. My arms ache from just distributing press handouts.’
