Public demand updated cardigan-removal advice
Members of the public and the Conservatives have criticised the BBC and Sky News for not issuing the public with new guidelines for the milder weather.
Tory home affairs spokesman Damien Greene said: ‘During the recent ‘big freeze’, the public were told to put on extra layers of clothing. They have not been informed if it is safe to remove this. I myself have an extra cardi on and I need to know if I can safely put it on stand-down.’
Complained Isle of Wight resident Barry Smythe: ‘The lack of information is disgraceful. I am actually too warm but afraid to take the cardi off until I know it is safe. I rang NHS direct and they didn’t know either.’ The BBC has declined to comment.
