Pete Doherty awarded home hearing after completing court loyalty card

It was confirmed yesterday that having collected enough stamps on his court appearance loyalty card, rock singer Pete Doherty has been awarded a home magistrates visit for his next summons.

After receiving a driving ban for allowing the use of a car without insurance at Lowestoft Magistrates Court, Doherty, the former Libertines singer and Babyshambles front man, presented his loyalty card to the clerk of the court and collected the all important tenth stamp.

A spokesman for the Justice Department justified the decision. ‘We just see this as an extension of our mission to encourage the public to take advantage of our facilities. As one of our most frequent visitors, Mr Doherty is fully entitled to benefit from the same reward scheme as all of our best offenders.’

Doherty, 31, was reported to be ‘delighted’ at the prospect of hosting a hearing for his friends in the legal profession and is hoping that his next offence will be ‘worthy of the occasion’.
