Bristolian TV presenter and comedian Justin Lee-Collins has ended months of speculation by admitting that he is the much admired ‘street artist’ Banksy. Speaking from his home in Easton, Lee-Collins said ‘I, like, couldn’t hide it any longer. Once I knew the News of the World was after me, I had to come out and admit it were me what did them paintin’s ‘n’ stuff’
A spokesman for the Bristol Museum detailed how his suspicions had been aroused by an ‘odd-looking short beardy bloke’ that was spotted by CCTV during Banksy’s top secret preparations for his sell-out exhibition last year. Art Critic Brian Sewell also commented on the story; ‘I’m not surprised you know, after all you never see them together do you? By the way who is this Banksy Fellow anyhow?’
Relieved to have come clean, Mr Lee-Collins’ celebrations were cut short by the serving of a writ from Bristol City council for unpaid fines amounting to £15m for public disorder offences dating back to 1988.
