Queuing drinkers ‘let down’, says Friday night report
More than 6,000 people left queuing in the nation’s public houses last Friday when bars closed were ‘badly let down’, an interim report has found.
The government’s new Drinking Commission said the law should be changed so anyone queuing when last orders is called could still exercise their right to become inebriated and start a fight in a chip shop or over who was in the taxi queue first.
It admitted that would-be revellers attempting to exercise their right to drink had probably had their human rights infringed, and expressed hope that the debacle didn’t put people off drinking in the future.
