Man dies from stroke after wife fails to remember FAST acronym
Bristol man Mike Collins died yesterday after his wife was unable to remember the stroke awareness TV campaign acronym.
His wife Jane said ‘when he collapsed I thought it might have been a stroke and thought of calling an ambulance, but then I remembered the ad. I was pretty sure it was a four letter word, maybe starting with F, but that was all I could remember. It had me stumped for ages.’
She tried asking her brother, but as he lives in Australia he’d never heard of the campaign. ‘It was nice to have a bit of a catch-up though’ she said. ‘In the end I looked online and FAST popped-up in less than a second, but by then of course it was much too late. I had to laugh at the irony.’Click to send this story to a friend
