Bristol man Mike Collins died yesterday after his wife was unable to remember the stroke awareness TV campaign acronym.
His wife Jane said ‘when he collapsed I thought it might have been a stroke and thought of calling an ambulance, but then I remembered the ad. I was pretty sure it was a four letter word, maybe starting with F, but that was all I could remember. It had me stumped for ages.’
She tried asking her brother, but as he lives in Australia he’d never heard of the campaign. ‘It was nice to have a bit of a catch-up though’ she said. ‘In the end I looked online and FAST popped-up in less than a second, but by then of course it was much too late. I had to laugh at the irony.’
