Tragedy struck second-year undergraduate Harvey Owen today, when his beloved grandmother Ivy again passed away for the fourth time just days before the start of her grandson’s critical end-of-term exams.
‘We knew she didn’t have long left,’ a tearful Harvey told his current tutor, ‘not after that nasty fall she had just before my dissertation deadline. Still, nothing can really prepare you for the loss – and at such a crucial stage in your academic career.’
This is just the latest tragedy to beset poor Harvey. Only last month his uncle came down with ‘a touch of HIV’ on the day of his presentation to his year group, though staff were relieved to see that Harvey’s father looked much better as he dropped his son back at halls for the start of term just weeks after losing both legs in a freak lion-taming accident.
