Lord Hutton finds Pakistani cricket team ‘not guilty’ of using auto-tune
An inquiry by Lord Hutton has found ‘absolutely no evidence at all’ that the Pakistani cricket team have been using auto-tune technology during their ongoing tour of England.
The controversy surrounding several Pakistani players, including wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal and test captain Salman Butt, erupted last week after viewers became suspicious at the ‘rich musicality’ of their batting.
After a run of good performances, the International Cricket Council asked Lord Hutton to investigate whether allegations of electronic enhancement were plausible. “In particular I was asked to establish whether the Pakistani players could have achieved such a pitch-perfect rendition of Katrina & the Waves’ 1983 classic Walking on Sunshine during their first innings without artificial help,” said the 79-year-old former Law Lord.
‘After an inquiry every bit as exhaustive as my last one, and lengthy discussions with eminent cricketing expert Miss Cheryl Cole, I have found no evidence at all that this is the case, and basically it was all made up by the BBC. I really think Jonathan Agnew should resign, you know.’
