Blockbuster’s application for bankruptcy pending further proof of ID
The application for bankruptcy made by Blockbuster Inc has been turned down after the video and DVD hire company could not adequately prove that it was indeed the company it claimed to be.
‘We usually ask for at least three forms of ID,’ said a spokeswoman for the US Department of Commerce. ‘One of the guys had his driver’s licence, but the utility bills were in a different name and they only had the last three months bank statements. He even tried to get us to accept his Blockbuster membership card as ID. Jeez, I haven’t seen one of those things for years.’
Blockbuster has been charged a fee of £3.99 and asked to return the necessary documents by no later than 9pm tomorrow evening.
