Mock the Week team rejoice at Abu Hamza passport appeal success
As champagne corks flew and high-fives were exchanged, Mock the Week makeweight Andy Parsons captured the mood at the topical comedy quiz show’s script meeting this week, saying, ‘this is the most relieved I’ve been since I heard Abu Hamza wasn’t going to do my prostate exam’.
The scenes of celebration were in reaction to the news that the Special Immigration Appeals Commission has ruled that Hamza could keep his British passport, and therefore can still be regarded as a valid topical reference for the show’s writers who provide the panel members with their off-the-cuff remarks about the radical cleric and tabloid hate figure.
Host, Dara O’Briain, echoed the thoughts of the entire team, saying ‘thank God he’s back in the news and staying in the UK – without Abu Hamza, the material for our show would have been about as rough as Abu Hamza’s i-phone screen… Points all round!’Click to send this story to a friend
