Government minister in ‘slap in the face’ gaffe
The government has had to apologise today after a cabinet minister likened the cut in funding for domestic violence charities as a ‘slap in the face’. ‘I am extremely sorry for any upset caused,’ said Minister for Families Michael Cordridge. ‘I have no idea what happened, I just said it in the heat of the moment and it will never happen again… promise’.
Amid calls for the minister to quit his post an apologetic Cordridge has asked to be given one more chance. ‘I love those charities, but I can’t help cutting their funding. I mean, they drive me to it sometimes but I’ll try harder… I will. I know I was in the wrong… come on, we’re good together, weren’t we? We had some good times, yeah? There, there’s that smile…’
