Ship to rescue Brits in middle of Libyan desert ‘a bad idea’
David Cameron has played down reports that members of his own cabinet are calling the plan to send HMS Cumberland to rescue 200 Britons stranded in the middle of the Libyan desert ‘a bad idea’.
Speaking at a press conference, the Prime Minister blamed the previous government for failing to predict the plight of the British nationals, and said “clearly, some people will say that the plan is naïve. But I say, let them. I say, look at the fact that, for thirteen years under Labour, not one battleship, frigate or aircraft carrier even tried to manoeuvre across a solid landmass.”
