Protests as police force forced to police police protest
Police have begun policing protests by police protesters against the cuts in the police force unveiled by the Home Office.
‘We, the police, are committed to policing the police protests,’ said police chief Frank Whiteley of Hertfordshire Police. ‘The cuts forced on the police by the government are forcing the police to cut policing of the police protests, despite the government’s protests that they are not imposing cuts on the police.’
The government, announcing the cuts, has urged police not to protest but instead to police the cuts protests. Home Secretary Theresa May admitted: ‘I think I have announced some cuts to the police budget, but I’m getting a bit confused about the details.’
