The news before it happens…

‘I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter’ turns out to be butter

A lone scientist working at home in a laboratory in Greenwich has made the incredible discovery that the apparently low-fat margarine spread called ‘I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter’ is in fact, butter.

The shocking truth was immediately confirmed by the parent company Unilever; ”We basically created it to prove that people will believe anything,’ said an offical statement,’I mean it was yellow, salty, butter flavoured. It was butter.’

But workers at the ‘I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter’ factory in Erith are appalled to have been part of such a scam. ’If I’d known I would never have worked there’ said an employee called Geoff Creases, who would like to remain anonymous. ‘It was my job to do the writing on the lids. I was that lie.’

Unilever plans to continue trading but rename its product to ‘I Can’t  Believe You Believed It Wasn’t Butter.’ ‘Well, it’s true’ said a spokesman ‘we can’t.’
