British Airways passengers considering strike action
In a surprise move, passengers with British Airways called a ballot today to consider a nationwide strike of the carrier. Flyers with BA have been unhappy of late with both the management and the unions, but the call for a strike has caught both sides off-guard.
‘This is unprecedented,’ said a BA spokesman. ‘Isn’t it our job to inconvenience them by cancelling their flights, making them sleep on terminal floors and then asking them to queue for hours to re-book?’
Less hard-line passengers are proposing industrial action rather than a full-blown strike, including sarcastic answers to the question ‘Did you pack these bags yourself?’, arriving at check-in just before it closes and mass-ordering wheat-intolerant kosher meals.
A representative for the passengers described the mood amongst the group: ‘We hope the situation cam be resolved without the need for any action. But some people are so desperate they’re even considering flying with Ryanair.’
