Just weeks after the Royal Wedding, the Duchess of Cambridge has made headline news by being seen in public wearing a frock.  ’I was standing outside Buckingham Palace,’ said royals watcher Amanda Bates,’when I saw Kate standing there wearing a frock with about three hundred press photographers snapping away.  And no wonder – she was wearing a frock.’

‘When I opened my Daily Mail this morning,’ said Mildred Jones, ‘and saw the photo of the Duchess wearing a frock, I did a double-take. It’s amazing!’

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said the Duchess of Cambridge had been wearing  frocks ‘since she discovered she was a girl.’  ’The trouble is,’ said fashion guru Fiona Fawcett, ‘ because Katie is such an icon, millions of women will copy her and start wearing frocks. I saw a woman in Tesco just this morning and she was wearing a frock. She wasn’t in the newspaper though.’
