Old age can kill, study warns
Hundred of thousands of people are being put at increased risk of death because of their age, a recent study warns.
The shock finding is reported by researchers at the University of Alabama who found that people in the 80 to 90 age range are far more likely to die than those aged between two and five.
‘We have long suspected that people who pile on the years are more likely to die than those who don’t,’ said Dr James Robertson. ‘Although people can always die from something or other, or this and that, advanced age appears to be by far the biggest killer with the elderly at greatest risk.
‘We advise people to try and avoid entirely, or at least cut down, on birthdays,’ said Dr Robertson (101).
