Mixed reaction to Budget Time-Travel Operator’s 2011 Timeport
Budget time-travel operator EasyTime’s timeport in 2011 may be good news for local businesses, but tourists from the future are disappointed with its lack of proximity to major world events in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
Many time travellers arriving in 2011 are surprised to learn that it’s a decade away by shuttle-Tardis from the World Trade Center attacks in 2001, and an uncomfortable 18 years onward transfer away from the first contact with alien life-forms.
‘The EasyTime ads would have you believe that 2011 is on the doorstep of major historical events, but when you get here, it’s basically just the London Olympics – and even those are a year’s drive away by rent-a-DeLorean,’ said George Babcock from AD 3286.
An EasyTime spokesperson defended the company’s use of the 2011 timeport, saying that it offered unbeatable value for the budget time traveller and that more onward links to interesting years in the era will become available ‘in the near future’.
