While the bail-out discussions were culminating, the Greek Government were clapping their hands in glee. Unbeknown to the EU, the entire Greek nation had taken part in Movember, where money is raised for moustache growing through the month. Usually it goes to charity, but this year everything is going straight to the Greek government’s coffers.
On average the Greeks managed to raise €950 (£37.50p) each through international online donations. A secret ceremony was recently held to applaud Mrs Kostalazou of Piraeus who raised the most money, €17,000, and has become an internet sensation with her magnificent full set of ‘Jimmy Edwards’ whiskers.
Italy are outraged at the news, as they think they would have stood a fair chance of the same had they have thought of it. The value of shares in Gillette on the Athens stock exchange rose four-fold on the news and the Greek wig industry is expected to flourish, once the facial hair is removed and recycled for the Albanian market.
