Attack on UK embassy in Iran ‘result of Ferrero Rocher shortage’
An attack on the British embassy in Tehran yesterday could have been averted had UK diplomats taken steps to ensure adequate provision of Ferrero Rocher to visiting protesters, say experts.
‘The Ambassador’s receptions are noted in Iranian society for their host’s exquisite taste that captivates his guests,’ said one international commentator, ‘but on this occasion he really let his guests down. How you can hope to maintain healthy diplomatic relations in the absence of whole roasted hazelnuts encased in a thin wafer shell filled with cream and covered in milk chocolate and chopped hazelnuts, I simply do not know.’
The Iranian parliament condemned the attack, but warned the international community that ‘with these trade restrictions you are really spoiling us’. Iran has not ruled out the nuclear option of failing to provide cheese and pineapple chunks on cocktail sticks at future official functions.
