You must take people ‘on a Journey’, top motivational speaker tells bus drivers
Staff at South Croydon garage have foregone their bonuses and Christmas money. Instead, it was spent on a motivational speaker who could help them reach their potential, seize the day and follow their dreams.
And HR manager Jo Early says it will be worth every pound. Speaker Steve Crowley, she said, will give hem something far more valuable. He will help the drivers to create a happiness strategy and come to see customer service (within strick timetable requirements) as a lifestyle choice. “If they ever found out that they could have had cash, instead of a training course, I’m sure they would be more than happy to opt for the later,” said Early. As Human Resources manager of South Croydon buses, however, she took the executive decision not to tell the work force.
Crowley, who charges ten thousand ponds for an afternoon seminar, claimed his seminars could change people’s outlooks on life and move them deeply. “After one seminar, workers at a bread factory were moved to tears, and others appeared to be shaking with rage,” said the lifestyle guru. Crowley explained that his presence made the staff realise how much they had wasted of their lives. “They kept shouting it was a waste of something. I didn’t have time to think about it. I had to jump in a cab for my own safety.”
