Ed Miliband says 2012 will be ‘Year of the Weird’

2012 will be ‘the ‘Year of the Weird’ according to Ed Miliband in his New Year message to voters. The Labour leader urged voters ‘to take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself if politics has got to be dominated by people who look normal. Or has the time come for the new politics of weirdness and weirdos?’

‘People are tired of the same old ordinary politicians with the same old ordinary faces,’ he continued, ‘I want to inject a new challenge into politics – the challenge of weirdness.’

Analysts say that weirdness is Miliband’s undoubted strength and that it could pose a real electoral threat to the Coalition. ‘To combat Miliband’s strategy,’ one analyst said, ‘ the Tories will probably give much greater prominence in 2012 to Education Secretary Michael Gove.’
