The Royal Mint is to release a new £500 coin with a detailed explanation of the LBW law on it’s reverse. ‘LBW has always caused some confusion and it’s hoped that the new coin will make things much clearer,’ said a spokesman for the Mint, attributing the idea to Former England test star Geoffrey Boycott.
‘That’s a proper coin is that and no mistake,’ said Mr Boycott, applauding the move, ‘and I only hope they also have room for detailed analyses of my many great innings where I didn’t get out by LBW. Cos they were great they were.’
Other simple explanations of some of the more esoteric rules of Cricket will feature on the back of the coin, too, with one whole side devoted to clearing up once and for all the often misunderstood rule that ‘when you’re in you go out and when you’re out you’re in’.
The new coin is 8 meters in diameter.
