A gang member from Bristol has been jailed for 3 years for attempting to use his baseball bat as a bus. Wayne Dwight was found guilty at Bristol Crown Court after being pulled over by police travelling down the bus lane, with 2 ‘passengers’ on the back.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said, ‘we would much prefer people to use their weapon for beating cyclists rather than as a vehicle to extort money from unsuspecting passengers.’
Dwight admitted that he was originally taking the baseball bat to a gang fight. However, after waiting for 20 minutes for the bus to arrive, he realised he could use his bat to take him and the other waiting people home.
Mrs Wright, an 88 year old passenger on the ‘bus’, said her suspicions were raised when she was not allowed to use her free bus pass. ‘It’s been a while since I last paid, but even I thought £53.87 was a lot for a single ticket, she said. ‘That said, despite having to balance on the back of the baseball bat, that was the best ride I have had since my Albert passed away.’
