Mitchell and Coren admit they tried announcing engagement ‘for months’
David Mitchell and Victoria Coren have confirmed they’re getting married, with Mitchell adding the couple had been somewhat surprised it had taken people so long to realise.
‘We first announced it with a double page heiroglyphic spread in the Christmas edition of Barker’s Confundulum. I know we’re not exactly Posh and Becks but we were disappointed not to get even one congratulatory sonnet,’ he said.
After spelling out the dates of their forthcoming nuptials in morse code, performed on cannon and musket during a re-enactment of the Battle of Bosworth Field, the couple eventually decided to announce the news on Twitter.
The couple are thought to be putting their charming cleverer-than-thou-spin on proceedings, with the guests’ menus showing three pictures of classic dishes – none of which will be served, but which should provide a simple set of clues to lead diners to their actual dinner.
