Six injured in Tottenham’s first Pitbull Run
At least six people were injured during the Pitbull Run in the inaugural Tottenham riot festival. The injuries appeared to be fairly minor, although one man told reporters that he is unlikely to be able to sit down for several weeks. Others complained of damaged designer clothing which did not require hospital treatment.
Locally bred pitbull terriers were released in the early hours of Sunday morning onto a stretch of the Tottenham High Road, where local youths had been gathering for several hours. Some of the braver contestants attempted the run while carrying widescreen LCD TVs or pushing shopping trolleys full of assorted consumer goods.
The run was completed in 3 minutes 24 seconds, but this time was seen as being slow as some of the runners had paused to set fire to a minibus. It is hoped that this event will become a regular tourist attraction, and a version of it may well be employed after the Olympic closing ceremony to help clear the stadium.
