In the all-important second riot of the Ashes series, the Hoodies have won the toss and have chosen to loot first.
On what are looking to be green, fresh conditions, the Hoodies are expected to open with last year’s highly successful and in-form Tottenham pairing of the stone-throwers and police car fire-bombers who dominated most days of the first series and looted beautifully throughout.
A disappointed police captain admitted it was a bad toss to lose. ‘We would’ve liked to have gone in first with our new but potentially very exciting combination of attack dogs and rubber bullets, followed by the ever reliable baton charge,’ he said. ‘And our strong tail of court appearances and excessive sentencing performed very well last year.’
The police were seeking a better performance after last year’s golden duck. A repeat performance could see them dropped for the more aggressive Army.
