Apple launches public telephone facility, the iPhoneBox
Electronics giant Apple today marked the launch of its new product, small weatherproof structures to be positioned on streets at convenient locations around towns and cities, each equipped with an iPhone.
‘This will offer Apple features to many new users,’ said a spokesman, denying that this was a response to the short battery life of existing iPhones. ‘No account or credit card will be needed as each module will come equipped with an iCoinBox. Users will just need to find the right change and they’ll be able to access our telephone service at fixed sites while they are mobile. It’s groundbreaking.’
Due to the difficulty of creating vandal-proof touch screens, only voice calls will initially be available.
