IVF service to offer ‘Free-range eggs’
The NHS announced today that it was to trial a premium IVF service which guarantees better quality, and more responsibly sourced, eggs.
Egg donors are to be screened prior to donation, and for their eggs to be available to premium customers they must meet strict criteria. They must show that they eat at least 5 portions of fruit or vegetables a day; get a minimum of 30 minutes exercise per day in the open air; have a house with at least 3 bedrooms (one of which must have en-suite facilities); and they must not have a neighbour closer than half a mile away.
If the trial is a success, the NHS hope to introduce a ‘Value’ service next year, with eggs being sourced from females from the nearest sink estate. Although frankly…’ said a spokesman, ‘it’s quite hard to catch those ones before they are already fertilised’.
